Iso, do you still have the other bookends with that were more green and black? Or did you give those to someone?

Snowmom, the Ellensburg Blue is a beautiful agate and is commonly found in the alluvial plain just to the west northwest of ellensburg. ALmost 100% found on private lands. For a public hounder though, there is some opportunity because the county roads cut through this material and you can go walk the roads and find them (I hear tell... although I never found one!!) They are a gem quality agate.

I wonder what all this poor little rock went through to get to Forsyth Montana....? Plan to have it sliced and diced... not sure what I'll do with it then.

Very cool Ernie! I'd set that aside for until you have a big enough tumbler (you know you will!) to tumble it as is.
Heck, throw it in your largest barrel with a boat load of smalls and see how it does.

I will hopefully have two 15#ers going within a couple months... I'll throw it in with smalls and see what happens... its pretty hard... jasper hardness Id say.. so it ought to take a shine. I have about 4 of these big ones I want to do.

hooray hornseeker for bringing isocline on board. WElcome Isocline, looking forward to learning more, can't wait to see the pictures of your share of Horneekers agate, thanks for defining it for us. Hornseeker, love that breccia, don't forget to show us what you do with it.

Hornseeker, love that breccia, don't forget to show us what you do with it. I was thinkin' that he outta ship it to Florida where it could retire amongst all the other old relics that come down here from up north. But that's just my thinkin'... Aside: every time I say to my wife "I was thinking..." she rolls her eyes and reminds me that my thinking is against the rules. It does usually lead to trouble, or an expense, of one sort or another, so I can't really blame her.

Wise woman, Mrscapt is- she's got your number. My spouse gets a similar look when I use that same phrase... I wonder if they've been colluding? nah, I bet we could form a club of rockhounds who have spouses who roll their eyes and give "the look".

Sorry for the delay Snowmom... So yeah, tons of conchoidal "marks" caused from impact while sitting in the Yellowstone river for umptine thousands of years!! Funny though, it must have been sitting in a certain position for a long time, because the marks are only on one side.... here ya go... side 1: other side:

Same marks are common on the bigger agates found in or near the river! or big pieces of Pet wood, chert, etc...
