The blizzard of 2015 is done, thank you. We got 25 inches.
The snows came off the ocean in a typical Nor'easter pattern.
My son James is only ten miles West and he got 34 inches.
My son Steven is 30 miles South and he got 25 too.
Just when you think it cant get worse, we woke up to the big chill today. It was -11, real temp, not the wind chill.
Probably nothing to some of our heartier members but a record for my place.
On the bright side, I don't have the daily trek into and out of Boston any more. The traffic just gets worse every year, even out in the burbs as more and more people crowd into this area. I had been leaving my house at 6 am to beat the rush but the rush gets earlier every year too. Boston is getting more congested as the construction boom continues. As they run out of land in the Financial district, the waterfront has been rediscovered and the old "cheepo" parking lots are being replaced by high rise offices and luxury townhouses. The courthouse is booming with the Hernandez and Marathon trials adding to the mess. The new convention center and the addition of mass transit in and out of the South Boston waterfront has made it more accessible. There is a commuter rail system and buses from the burbs but I'm getting too old for the hustle and bustle. A couple of years ago I'd wait for the train to Boston from Concord in this weather; now I dot want to do it.
the snow is beautiful...at first.
I hope it is not a repeat of last years "Polar Vortex" weather pattern. It was a deep freeze for much too long.
That's probably the only good news for our friends in the oil and gas industry. Power consumption going way up on the Eastern Seaboard.
We've also had a boom of Solar panels on residences, so maybe it's not that good.
