love the photos, looks like you found some great rocks and a radiosonde (type of weather balloon)

Very nice! Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Good to know there's still rocks to be had for the willing digger.

So, I'm more than a year late to your post, tothesummit. Great trip report, thank you for posting the information. Have always wanted to get out there.

That is too bad! A tornado hit it. But you can still find stuff like this -

Great trip report even though I'm late to the party. I was out that way years ago and the first night I thought we were being attacked by space aliens. Brilliant white lights appeared in the sky to the south and slowly drifted down. They turned out to be military air reconnaissance flares but at the moment it was a little unsettling.
Didn't do to well on rocks because I had car trouble. That led to an interesting tale I'll tell another time. But I'm wondering if anyone has a small piece of psilomelane from that area I can buy or trade for. I want just enough for a test cab or two to see how it compares with the Crown of Silver material from Mexico. Just shoot me a PM.

When I went there, the psilomelane vein was 3" thick, 10' below grade, in a 25' hole! Black and waxy and shiny. But, no tools or ladders.... :-(
