Tonight's Svengoolie movie is once again Monolith Monsters, as shown about a year ago. Great 1957 movie about moving quartz crystals, absolutely edge of seat can't miss show. Lots of nice cars too.

That's half the fun of watching the old old movies (no the 1950s is NOT old, old, I am a 1951 model). I love looking at the cars, the clothing styles, the furniture and decorations on the sets. Never get tired of looking at the thin man series, for example. Quartz as the main character makes me think the plot may be a bit slow? I don't know that one, but now I'm going to have to look for it.

O Deb "Monolithic Monuments" is fabulous not only for all the things you listed above but for the geology lesson. You'll love it. And the movie is really really well done. It could be re-made. Perhaps that's a project consider on RTH? We have enough actors & actresses for the cast that rock. I want to play the role of the first scientist turned to stone Who up for auditions?

Gotta love a good black and white show with interludes of dead pan humor. Never quite got the fascination with "Berwyn" though. This was actually the Son of Svengoolie now that I think about it. Nevermind !

Gotta love a good black and white show with interludes of dead pan humor. Never quite got the fascination with "Berwyn" though. This was actually the Son of Svengoolie now that I think about it. Nevermind ! The original Svenghoulie was Jerry G Bishop, and he was a Chicago performer, born and bred. (the show was based out of Chicago) Berwyn was kind of an 'in' joke for Chicago people in those days, as was Skokie, there was a sort of rivalry between them. (both Chicago suburbs) just a bit of local humor. OK! Mr Mohs, I suspect we will have to change the little girl part to a crabby old lady some how though.

Actually the Mom came off a little bit crabby in the movie.
She scolded her daughter about not bringing a dirty rock in to the house. Which the little girl had found & brought home from the desert.
So the little girl did the only reasonable thing. She threw the rock into a tub of water to clean.
That when thing started getting rocky around the household…
