Center of pic 7 is Petosky stone, and the piece to the right of that is Stromatolites (fossil algae).
Small piece at the bottom of #5 looks like it could be Arizona rainbow wood.
Pic #2, top left is opalized wood from Oregon, and right of that is one of the Owyhee picture jaspers from Oregon.
Congrats on scoring the piece of Indian paint rock. That looks like it could be the old Death Valley material. Illegal to collect now, and getting very hard to find.

As for the Indian paint rock, I went back to get a smaller piece so I could make a few cabs. They have some large pieces, maybe I should go and get them if they are getting so hard to find. Andrea

Great haul. That is some nice Calico Lace........................MrP Thanks MrP…The pieces aren't too big. I don't know how long I spent going through them to find pieces with the clear pinkish areas. I'm guessing that's the part to look for. A lot of them seem to be just the yellowish squiggly areas (I'm not sure how to describe it…lol), and since they aren't too big I'm not sure if they have good spots inside. Andrea

Andrea, before you load up on the paint rock, ask where it came from. If it's old stock Death Valley material, get all that you can afford and save it. Death Valley has been a National Park for several generations now, and it's illegal to remove anything from there. What still remains of material collected from there years ago continues to go up in value.
As for the opalized wood, it can be a blessing or a curse. Much of it fractures very easily, so be careful cutting it. You don't want to ruin a blade. If it's solid enough to slab, it does make beautiful cabs. And it will take a mirror shine.

jakesrocks I did scratch the paint rock with a piece of agate and it left a mark if that means anything. Isn't the Death Valley type softer than the other one?

Yes, it is. The Death Valley material won't take a high polish, but still makes an interesting cab. Can't remember where the other type of paint rock comes from, but it's harder and will take a nice polish.
If yours is Death Valley material, it takes a light touch to cab it. the darker streaks are hard. larger grey or yellow areas are soft and will easily undercut.

Photo 2 green stone looks like a stone that I find here that (I am guessing) is quartz and epidot. I have quite a bit of it and at first I thought it was nephrite jade but ruled that out fairly quickly. The SG is quite a bit heavier than quartz but a little light for nephrite. Jim
