Hi Everyone! Stewart ( bcrockhound) sent me 2 really fine specimens of flowerstone & dallasite. He requested 3 rock'n hearts be made from them. One flowerstone, dallasite and a combo. (I'm happy to report that the project is complete and the package should be posted tomorrow, Stewart ) This is the results of the combo That's flowerstone on the left Dallasite on the right I think it out of sight! and I hope the recipient will think so to. I'm not going to post any more pictures I want the 3 to be a surprise when they arrive. Thanks for looking ! Ed

Thanks Tommy I went back and looked at those 2 excellent cabs you ground from the Dallasite. Excellent finish on them and shine. Did you find the Dallasite to be fractury ? The one heart half I tried to rough saw to the template line fractured. That broke my heart cause it was a good pairing. So I had to make another heart half and instead of rough sawing to the the line I choose to sneak up to the line by grinding . I don't have a sweet trim saw Suppose my saw vibration & kerf exacerbated the process.... ed...mohstly

Thanks snowmom I really did enjoy making them. As I was doing them I kept looking at a slab of your shattered quartz impact material. I get another heart out that. And Deb Thanks for mentioning the new job also. I went back into technological career that I walked away from 15 years ago. The learning curve is steep, and there are moments when I wonder why I went back to it. Procedures, procedures, procedures! I'm a simple man. I like rock grinding. Anyway its all good and I need to balance the disciple with the looseness of my rock grinding hobby ED

Did you find the Dallasite to be fractury ? Hi Ed, some of it had some fractures but no worse than any other stone. I try my best to break it with my hands and the area that won't break is generally where the cab comes from.

I just took some pictures of them today. I have failed to find a new chain in this town to put them on. Funnily, when I was taking pictures of the hearts outside of my workplace, I was accosted by some drunks (and who knows what else they were on). They were interested in the rocks and in telling me not to walk around alone. And then they wanted juice (alcohol, I found out). And then they wanted money. Yellowknife is a rough place. But, I love these hearts! Perhaps they can protect me. I'm thinking of sending the flowerstone one to my grandma. The double Dallasite heart is my favourite. Both sides are really nice cuts. I was impressed with how chunky and well-made these are. They're smaller than I expected and I like that. I highly recommend getting some hearts from Ed. Ed's too kind and doesn't charge enough. He also gave me two big killer slabs. The Dallasite one is fantastic. I need to get a picture of it in here. Can't wait until I find a new chain and can wear these. It's Friday night in Yellowknife and that means I have my apartment door barricaded (literally) and the yelling is starting. Protect me, rock'n hearts.

I wanted to hang the hearts up in the sun off a tree or something and get a nice winter shot. Eventually gave up today and just put them in the snow for a pic. Ah well. The hearts are fantastic. I can't get them on me soon enough.

Quite a feat of international mailing, bcrockhound is way out there in the wild. how does the population break down there Stew, miners, native people, more men than women? Eds rockin hearts are always made with love. The good Karma is built right into them. Keep them in a pocket or your wallet til you can put them on a chain. Looking forward to seeing what sort of rocks you might hound come the thaw! Keep on keeping on! mr.mohs, those are beauteous. always look forward to your posts.
