Hard to believe they are all Scottish agates. Some look like lace agate, some look like fortification agate, one looks like a Carnelian, some look like they could be Brazilians. And then there are the orbicular ones. It looks like you tumbled up a mixed bag from all over the world.
I'm going to sip a single malt and stare at my agates. If you don't have Scottish agates, you can always have Scotch-ish agates.
Darryl.

right from the first one a batch of agate awesomeness! I wait for these posts and look forward to them. It was great hunting this past month.. what is the best time of year to find them? (when it is cold and fewer tourists, I bet). Thanks for the show. I love that first one, and the others are not far behind... wowsers! keep on keeping on!

Must be similar conditions snowmom. Like coral in Indonesia silicifies to similar colors to Florida coral. Red moss agates similar from many different US states. Hungary has fine red moss. Wish there were more posts like Ian's from other continents. South American and Queensland Australian agates have similarities. Queensland has fine thunder eggs. Maybe Ian has been getting Ebay Lake Superiors and is laughing at us. I have a Scottish buddy and he is a master trickster. Ian ??

I get the comments about Lake Superior agates, but I see condor and or Laguna lace in there too.

Amazing agates, iant! World class. I visited your beautiful country several years ago, but couldn't really take the time to rockhound due to time, but now, looking at these, I'm kicking myself!

Thanks all for your very kind comments. jamesp and snowmom, I've looked online at some Lake Superiors and would not spend that kind of money! The only rocks I buy now are some Botswanas to put in the mix if I am low on material. I also do buy some specimens, my wife gave me a nice piece of Labradorite for Christmas. Any time of year is great for finding these. We get relatively mild winters which are good for mixing things up on the shore but they can be found at all times of year.
