I was pretty happy with the way the displays looked this year. We had quite a few people tell us we had the best looking booth and that really means a lot because we really take pride in our work and want it to show. We had another table loaded with rough and slabs but I did not get a photo of that one. This was the "metro rock swap" in Taylor,Michigan and it was our 3rd year doing this one. I had not straighten out the wire wraps on the stand yet but was in hurry to get photos before the show opened. I keep this tumbler around just for shows. It is running during the show so it catches folks attention and gets conversations started. I did not need any equipment at all but I just could not leave these two there at these prices so I brought them home.... There were three more flat laps all with motors ready to go at $50 each that did not sell And one of my kids likes malachite so these came home too Chuck

That looks great, Chuck! I like your tumble display. Do you make that after laying them all out on the table at your house? We're both boys able to join you?

That looks great, Chuck! I like your tumble display. Do you make that after laying them all out on the table at your house? We're both boys able to join you? Thanks Rob. My boys had to work in shifts. My youngest had basketball in the morning and my 15 yr old had to be at work at 2:00 so it worked out pretty good and I didn't have to pay them both for a full day, LOL. I thought you would get a kick out of the pieces of equipment for $50 after having trouble finding just a used motor at that price. I was blown away that nobody was buying that stuff up. Same guy had about eight 6 pound lortone barrels price at $15 each and I don't think any sold. I am sure he would have taken $10 each at the end of the day. I got the 8" Gemlap flat lap for $35 after the show closed and could have gotten the remaining three machines at that price too. I really like how the tumbles looked when all displayed in one pile the other day so that's when I decided to built that bin. There was almost always at least one person standing in front of that all day and a few times where 3 people were there and more waiting. I did get frustrated at a couple professional rock pickers that spent a good hour picking out the very best and walked away with bags of unbelievable rocks for $5. Next time I may go through and cherry pic the very best and slowly add those throughout the day to make it fair. The 3x4 bags for $5 are right at a half pound and the snack size bags for $10 are right at a pound. Chuck

Kicking myself. I tried to talk spouse into going to that show. (maybe I should be kicking him!)I could have come home with some decent polishing equipment. Your display is awesome. So many good ideas- in the way you have them presented. the running tumbler is an inspiration! Were there lots of people in attendance? Thanks for the post, I enjoyed seeing the setup and hearing about it all.

I only ran in to one RTH member and I did not catch his name (or username). He recognized our stuff though. Right now I only have one other show that we are doing for sure this year and its in the fall. Two of our other annual shows were cancelled. Participation in the hobby is dying at a pretty rapid rate right now locally. Chuck
