Finished these up tonight for a pair of earrings. tricky stuff, but they turned out nice in the end.

Man I use to not like Jade but that looks better n better. I used to be the same, but have recently converted to the religion of all things jade. I will say, this stuff in particular was not easy to cab at all. There was a matching pendant stone that I started with first and notice there's no pictures of it...that's because its in a pile of about 6 pieces. Found out the hard way that you cannot grind this stuff with 60-80 grit wheels. I had to start on 220 for these and go real slow. still had a lot of chipping issues, but the stones made it out in one piece, so I'm calling it a win. I also had to go back a few times and dry sand on the last 3 wheels of the pixie to bring up the shine. the material responds well to dry sanding and a little heat. This is jade from Washington that was introduced in another thread.

My problem was with the outer face of the cab not polishing well Don. I am seeing so much nice Jade cabbing now that I may need to revisit Jade.

Dang! I don't think I've ever seen a shine like that on jade. It's gorgeous!

boy, I'm quickly losing my enthusiasm for this stuff after cutting a few more pieces. ugh. if you're in a solid "blue" area, it will shine fine so long as it survives cabbing, but if you've got black in it, good luck.
the green and white stuff I bought is even worse. crumbled like a cookie while slabbing and just fractured up while polishing. Wouldn't take a good polish no matter what. Making me long for the good Wyoming stuff again.

Those are gorgeous! Too bad the material is so problematic! I still may try some of that stuff, but I'll steer clear of the lighter colors, and try to avoid material with black streaks. Thanks for the heads up!
