Hey all, well I was happily rolling along in the 3rd week with my new 33B after quite a delayed start and then today it started making a loud noise. I had unplugged it for about an hour to check the barrels etc. I plugged it back in, popped the barrels on, and walked away. About 2 minutes later I heard the noise start. It goes away when I lift the end way up. I removed the top plate and removed the belt and the motor still makes the exact same noise. Visually it looked fine in the motor compartment. I checked it over looking for anything loose but nothing obvious. I checked the motor mount bolts and they are snug. Has anyone had this happen to them? I have kept the barrels right in the 3 pound zone, weighed on a shipping scale. Here is a link to a short video I uploaded to vid.me to demonstrate what I'm talking about. vid.me/DlU7edit: I forgot to mention that when I first noticed the noise and checked on it the barrels looked to still be turning normally.

It sounds like a bearing noise to me.

Sounds like the shaft is rattling. Did you oil the bushings? The little white pieces the shafts ride in. The shafts do have some end play in them. Could explain why the noise goes away when tipped.
I routinely ran mine "overweight". A barrel loaded at 2/3 to 3/4 will be over the 3# guideline. However that is the volume that works best for tumbling. Barrels and contents weighed any where from 3 & 3/4 to 4 & 1/4 pounds. Never seemed to cause any undue harm to the tumbler.

Unfortunately it makes the exact same noise when the belt is removed from the pulley when the bushings aren't being used.

Must be a motor issue then, try wiggling the shaft may be the motor bearing.

I removed the 3 nuts and let the motor slip out and rest on a flat surface. Still made the same noise and still went away when I moved the shaft off of horizontal. There is no side to side play as far as I can tell. Gonna email Lortone tonight or tomorrow and see what they say. Not sure if they will watch the video or not.

I stopped in at Lortone today. They agreed something was wrong with the motor and they swapped it out on the spot and it's running like a champ again. That place is a tumbler's paradise!
