Just got new rock hammer from Amazon and the sticker on the side says that it is known to cause cancer in Ca. Any one know what that means? I assume it it the handle, made in China but what chemical and how dangerous?

Everything causes Cancer in Cali.(J/J)!!! Probably something they made the company put on their "Goods",because of the grip on the handle.....I wouldn't worry about it!!

In Cali we have Pro 165 and any product that contains "a chemical known by the state if Kalifornia to cause cancer."
So the hammer has an ingredient that Kalifornia communists say may cause cancer.

Probably would have to eat two dozen handles a day for 25 years to be adversely affected by it.

Probably would have to eat two dozen handles a day for 25 years to be adversely affected by it. Might not ever effect all but some unlucky few. Cancer not 100% but in fact relatively rare

ALL rock hammers have the potential to cause cancer. Avoid harvesting Chrysotile (fibrous asbestos) and radioactive minerals and you should be OK.

It's because we have lots of serpentine, and they know in Cali, chances are good that you'll be taking a whack at it. And silica dust isn't so great for us, either. Now, how to protect the rock-lickers? ;-)
