So I notice that Covington lists Pumice powder or grit, apparently it comes in several grit sizes and so it must be for tumbling rocks? What is it and can I use it in place of Silicon carbide?

Bill, I believe fly ash from man made process is a similar abrasive. I think it has up to 30% aluminum oxide. Lots of good cheap abrasives, the cost is in crushing and screening it. I doubt it will coarse grind, SiC hard to beat. But will do the light work like putting 500/1000/polish finish down.

Did a quick google search. Like James said, looks like it is a polisher and not a grinder.

Without looking it up, I wonder if it's meant to be used as a dry abrasive - like for polishing/cleaning brass shell casings?

I think you have to mix the pumice powder with water to pollish.
