Well, I couldn't wait any longer and went ahead and bought a Lotrone tumbler (33B). Now where is the best place to buy grit? I'll mostly be tumbling beach rocks, jasper and the like. Thanks!

Hi. I just recently bought a 33B kit as well as an extra grit pack from The Rock Shed. Their website is a bit dated but the service was great and they seem to have a really good reputation on these forums. They have grit packs that include all the different stages needed (coarse, medium, pre-polish, polish) plus packs that include the plastic pellets if desired. The pack I bought came with one lb of each stage. Depending on how much you want to start out with they might be a good option.

Buy lots of 60/90. You'll use more of that than any other grit. If you want to really buy a lot of course grit, Kingsley North has a good price on 45 lbs of 80 grit (it's about the same as 60/90). The Rock Shed is a great place to buy grit too.

"The Rock Shed". I've always had good experiences with them.

If you want to spring for a 50# bag of 80 grit, get in touch with Kleen Blast in Tacoma if it's handy, 800-228-4786. We paid $1.65/lb. a year ago. They also have a place in north Portland [no sales tax].

lilacmoth the shipping is adjusted by Kingsley when you buy the 45# sale box. You won't find an option for it. Chose any or do a phone order, I usually do a phone order and they tell me at that time it ships USPS flat rate.
