I haven't worked with Iolite before, but it was pretty easy to get a good polish using it as smalls in some Amethyst I was tumbling. Sorry for the *&$#@! insta. It really came well if you could see it in person. And very easy...

Yes, it's very noticeable that they lose the purple in one direction and look more yellow. It isn't my favorite thing about this stone but apparently it's the main reason they're famous.

I doubt I purchased online. I've had the lot over 20 years and I don't remember where I got it actually. I recently made a resolution to stop being timid and actually start working some of my better materials. I must say now that I see how easy it is to get nice results with this, I wish I had tried it earlier.
