Didn't I say I'd have these done in March? Ha. Well, now they're out of the final polish and here are the results. All Harbor Freight rotary. I'm not saying this is a professional job or anything but I'm happy to add these to my collection. I still have many more than I'd prefer to have somebody flat-lap but I've not been able to arrange it. I threw away four of the eggs that came out because they just kinda fell apart but here are my keepers. ALlegedly I have a mix of Richardson Ranch, McDermitts, and Hauser Wells but I don't know which is which. There's some soft/porous material on the eggs that doesn't really polish but I still have a few faves: This pair is my absolute fave of the batch: Some of you are probably horrified but I've got plenty more unworked if you consider these to be ruined by my tumbler experiment.

Not sure why they would be considered ruined. Did you slab them or cut them in half or whatever? I don't know much about eggs.
Looks to me like you got some nice pieces. Jim

Oh I thought they were going to b r round like a ball? I may have thought they were going to turn out round but I just ending up doing a rather light shaping on them and didn't attempt more. They could probably make marbles/spheres though. I have plenty more. Thinking I might turn over one of the larger ones to a spheremaker.

Jim They are just cut in half, some light smoothing on the grinding wheel, and then tumbled. You could slab them though. Because they were tumbled and shaped rather casually, they are not perfectly matched halves and I've had someone laugh at our halves before. But I think I like them!

I like the way those eggs look tumbled and don't personally consider them ruined. Like the shaping, like the patterns. well done.

Could be the person who pretended not to like was trying to get 'em cheap for a wire-wrap project. However, these guys are not for sale anyway. So I think I'm safe in enjoying them!

Love 'em. Then again, I've tossed thunderegg bits in the tumbler before as well.
