Well left the homeplace in NC and am at my parents for the Holiday! Love visiting Saltville Va. No rocks that polish here, we have limestone and road gravel granite quarries out the wazoo. But the fun starts Tuesday 2hen I head to western NC to visit Mark/Marinedad from the forum. We are going to live, eat and breath rocks! They have rock washing fumes where you buy a bucket of dirt that has both native snd salted gems! It's a blast. Then the is a gold panning pkace. Plus I sent Mark a MFRB of paydirt from a gold claim on the ranch I visit in Az. We are gonna crush the rocks and dirt and pan it yoo! Man this is gonna be FUN!!!

Sounds like a blast, couldn't have picked a better guy. I was tempted to go rifle through his yard after he moved but the wife had other ideas. You guys have fun!

So Mark and I went gold mining at The Lucky Strike Gold mine. There is native gold there. We rented a high banker and the rent included a big backhoe load of dirt dumped beside it. That thing is slowwww. I thought we could shovel everything thru and be done and pan our concentrates. No way you had to spoon feed it and constantly clean out the rocks from the thing. Mark and I goodnaturedadly banter Ed about we couldn't get finished by days end. We finally just force fed the thing and finished just before dark! Probably lost a lot of gold but hey we finished! Tokk the concentrate home and ran it thru Marks mini high banker and paned it out. Got about 30 nice flakes of gold! Mark put them in a little bottle and gave them to me. Next time we are renting the trommel!!!
We also went to a gem salted mine and screened for gems. We split a bucket and I got enough cittine, rose, amethyst, etc pretty stuff to fill a 3 pound Lortone barrel! Yea it's rolling now! We also traded rocks and I learned how Mark makes his groove wraps and also his double sided cabs from different materisls. Stayed three days, ate like a King!! His wife Terri is a awesome cook. Visit was too short but I am headed back, I gotta try that trommel!!!#

Glad you and marinedad had a good time playing in the dirt and looking for gems, orrum! Did he take any pics, or did you upload any to your blog? Still hoping to see Chips, too.

enjoyed having you bill, had a great time and your welcome back any time. the wife would like you to bring sue next time but we understand about dealing with ill family members, we hope it all has a better outcome. droseraguy, or others are welcome to stop by if in the area, Transylvania county is known for many waterfalls, just bring a rock.
