I did some cabbing today while I was running my slab saw. These are "Collawood" cabs from wood that petrified in copper mineral soil. It is petrified wood infused with malachite, azurite, cuprite, and chrysocolla. It is neat material and fun to work with. It is kind of like working with Malachite, the pattern changes constantly as you grind and shape the stone. All of the cabs below are from part of the same slab. Colla 1 Colla 2 Colla 3 Colla 4 Colla 5 Colla 6 Colla 7 These nest are a few other stones I cabbed today California Malchite/Azurite - I really like the colors in this. Louisiana Sand Opal - No flash in it but it has a purple hue in person

That is amazing material. Where did you come by it?
Great work with it, too. The second one is a hands-down favorite.

Very cool material and you made some wonderful pieces with it. Is it hard to work? I would expect the pet wood and copper minerals to have very different hardnesses. Where does this material come from?

Dendrites in the California malachite/azurite? Very pretty and vibrant stone, extraordinarily divine.
