So this is the first batch I put through all the way to polish. Definitely a learning experience and any success I had I owe to this forum. Thanks guys/gals! Overview: Moss agate: Garnet ball (polished up nicely, but had undercutting): Another moss (sorry for the soft focus -- the reflection caught it): A tiger eye which took a nice shine: Some kind of jasper, I think: Fancy jasper: Some smallish amethyst that I used as filler came out pretty nice: More filler, clear quartz: Nothing terribly exciting, but I'm considering it a fair start. Lots of lessons learned and hopefully the next will be better.

Those look really, really good! Most first batches don't come out so good. It looks like you were very patient with the first stage. Do you do those completely in a rotary tumbler?

That's a dandy job for a "first", you did well. Like the variety.

Thanks all. It was all done in a rotary. I kept them in the rough stage for 1-2 months depending on the rock.
I used rollingstone's guide from the inspirational tumble thread from 2010 for the polish stage. That helped a lot.
My current rough batch has some more interesting stones so hopefully they will turn out ok as well.

Nice looking batch. Some folks have issues when mixing quartz and agate. Yours look fine so whatever formula your using is a good one.

Congrats on your first batch of tumbles, ringlord! Very nice, and love the garnet 'ball' and moss agates. The quartz looks great that you used for filler.

Nicely done ringlord! Looks like you took your time and absolutely nailed it. Great shapes and super shine. Really like your moss, good job on the tiger eye and your jasper is from Africa I believe. You are off to an awesome start and I'm sure we are all looking forward to seeing your next batch.
