Hopefully it struck secret military facility and disarmed it. Prefer the meteor over your hail storm.

If you have translate on your chrome browser. Here is a little info coming out of Iran. The 3rd shot is from one last month, not sure why it would be here? not this round. Starting myself to question the severity of it now. jadoykalamat.ir/1394/05/10/6658

interesting info spiritstone, thanks for the posts and your searches for info. Information/news of any sort is handled very differently and controlled severely in many other countries. first amendment doesn't apply in lots of places. People will spread the news somehow from those places though... maybe just not through official channels. Hopefully things will become clearer as time passes. It is only a matter of time before we get a big one. fascinating subject.

The video is pretty blurry so it is hard to make out much detail. Overall though in my opinion what they are holding is not a meteorite for the following reasons. -The fall is fresh but the crust on that rock looks like something that has sat in the dirt for a while since there are chips in the surface and light areas on part of the outside. -I see rough areas on the exterior that would have been ablated off. -On the broken interior I see no chondrules or metal, which are found in most meteorites. -If it were a meteorite I doubt if they would be letting a reporter handle it, especially without gloves. Meteorites are a big thing in the science community and many countries list them like national treasures. The last thing scientists want is people handling freshly fallen meteorites with their bare hands contaminating the meteorites with skin oils, lotions, sweat, etc. They may be just using whatever black rock they found for their news story since most people would not know the difference, especially with such poor quality video. As for pieces trickling out, which sounds like to the market, this is extremely unlikely. Unclassified meteorites are not worth much. And I doubt if anyone is going to sell a potentially valuable meteorite for pennies when it could be worth thousands per gram. Until a classification is obtained the potential value cannot really be established. It can be a less than a dollar a gram chondrite to thousand dollar or more rare meteorite such as a lunar or martian meteorite. There have been cases in new falls where people have been eager to be the first to own a piece of new fall that meteorites from other falls were passed off as being from that particular fall. If material is making it to the market this soon I suspect again that the material being passed off is not from that actual fall.

It must have contained a lot of copper. Maybe copper, silver, gold, platinum. That's the meteorite I want to find!
