interesting article especially about the stone chain saw
how do you reckon the blade is constructed ?
diamond or carbide tipped?
I'd have to believe its some sort of diamond encrusted wire used with water ?

MK makes a chain saw looking saw but it has a rotating blade I think 14". Honda gas engine makes it look something like a chainsaw I guess. I have a small piece of Blue John Stone my mom bought her last trip to the homeland. Looks like flourite to me.

"The STIHL Diamond Abrasive Chain 36 GBM is the first of its kind ever offered by STIHL. This chain features a pre-sharpened diamond segment on each link, making it immediately ready for cutting concrete and stone. It’s designed to deliver high cutting speed, smooth cuts and good performance during plunge cuts. The diamond segments reduce vibration, improving overall cutting speed. A depth gauge between each diamond segment improves chain ruggedness and plunge cut performance. The chain also features a “sandwich” segment design for faster cutting and longer service life. Expected service life is approximately 40-80 linear feet of cutting in 6-inch thick concrete (chain life will vary greatly depending on aggregates and steel reinforcement). Available in 12 inch and 16 inch sizes.
Applications: This chain is to be used exclusively with the GS 461 STIHL Rock Boss® concrete cutter and the STIHL ROLLOMATIC® G guide bar. The chain is designed to cut concrete, reinforced concrete (with rebar up to ½ inch), cinder blocks and masonry (including bricks, asphalt and soft stone such as sandstone). Cutting hard stone such as granite and ductile iron pipe are also approved applications but will reduce the service life of the chain."

I have a small piece of Blue John- a gift from a UK friend. I believe it is fluorite. Honestly, I don't find it terribly attractive, but interesting.
