Blue poppies!!!!Wowser! Interesting how poppy from a lot of areas contains that specular hematite. Hornitos poppy has that sometimes too....Mel

Jasper's are colored by iron. The more iron the messier the material. Too much iron and it's not jasper any more, it's hematite.

Can't find any pics or reference to California Blue Poppy, here's what the larger than fist size rock looks like. I have found blue poppy jasper here in Morgan Hill, very pourous and few poppies. Gave some of the MH to a lapidary friend and haven't heard back yet. I'll get this one sliced asap.
