If you're in SoCal and need a place to flop, drop a line. Safe Travels. Paul If you're in SoCal and need a place to flop, drop a line. Safe Travels. Paul Thanks Paul, grew up in Huntington Beach. Still have family in Long Beach and all over Orange County but we would still love to hang with some fellow HOUNDZ! I have friends that operate a Tourmaline mine outside of San Diego. A fellow rockhound and I are planning a trip this Winter. Quartzite and Southwestern Utah sounds do able. Make a huge circuit. Come back here via Yellowstone an Southeastern Oregon for opal and sunstones next Spring

Did a recent field trip with my rock club to the Himalaya, sifted through their off-site "tailings pile." (cough, cough) We had just received some liquid sunshine the previous couple of days. Mud is so much harder to sift than dry dirt - but not as dusty, lol. Enjoyed the fresh air and company. Like I've said before, if you go with no expectations, you won't be disappointed. Brought home just a couple of keepers, and we did better than most. At least we didn't have to pay the full rate.
Nice weather during the winter, if the El Nino doesn't soak us too bad .
ETA - BAZ, congrats on the new lifestyle!! I think hitting the highway and becoming a nomad (like John sandsman1 !) is something we all dream about. Good to see you have what it takes to GO FOR IT!

ETA Just after Christmas! BAZ, in the time you have been AWOL, captbob has got us using ETA to mean "edit to add," lol. If I can swing it, hope to meet you at Quartzite in January. (Nomad, you lucky dog.)

Baz, good for you hitting the road. I've been a full timer for two years but didn't travel as much as most. I liked the idea that I had the freedom to go anywhere if I was so inclined. Now I'm thinking of settling down a bit but I'll still have my trailer and do a little traveling.

Okie Dokie. Rig purchased, secured and just sitting there looking at us like, "when we leaving?" Last day at FedEx is this Friday. Unfortunately Missus has to go to Washington to console with her mom as 3 of her mom's siblings are in very bad shape. When she gets back we will be hitting the road...
