That last one looks like old brick. Say it isn't. No sir it isn't. I did see a brick or two but looked totally different than this. This had more of a pet wood look, but took it because it didn't look exactly like the brick I saw.

Those are looking great, Jimi! You went straight to 220 grit and omitted the coarse grit? The red rocks...those are pet rock, too?

<chuckle> Ok, ya got me on the pet rocks. So with the pet *wood* you are not concerned with any pits or cracks? I know they started out nice and river water, but...no nooks or crannies for the 220 grit to hide in?

If you zoom into some of the rocks you can see crannies where there is grit stuck in them. The 120/220 grit with take care of all that as it already has on most of these rocks already. They'll go away for the most part.

I'm really loving the blues! Looking good so far, I'm excited to see how this batch as well as the rotaries turn out.

Good luck with the blue granite Jimi. Maybe you can pull off a granite polish.

10-5-15 MONDAY: Took a bunch out today. Weird thing is I have quite a few stone with a gold scratch in them. Under the loupe it's all glittery and looks smeared, but looks like someone took a gold paper clip and scratched some of the rocks in patterns. Some of the rocks do have pyrite in them. Could this be the culprit of these scratches? And another Here is one that was in the rotary and I trimmed it in half and threw it in the lot-o for a couple rounds. I think it was tree bark because of how it was shaped and looked. I regret putting it into the lot-o as it took away most of the bark look. I think I may have this set as a ring. I like the claw look to it. Added 2Tbsp of 120/220 and about 1oz of gemmy garnets (that jamesp had given me). Added some moonstone scraps (I added a piece at last load and it smoothed it out without damage so what the heck...I'll add more).

Bummer. Did you identify the pieces with the pyrite in them and remove them from the load?

Well, in that case, years down the road.... "Yars ago the oldtimers when they wuz looking to strike gold would mark rocks from prospective areas with their prized golden nails that they always carried with them...it was kinda like a gps waypoint for them. These heah rocks is rare as hen's teeth so be careful while you hold'em and look at'em!".
