Well I had to hand the world rock tumbling crown over this year and figured it would be bad sportsmanship not to show the rocks I entered. It was still a fun contest but I sure hope they pick a better stone next year. The last couple years were really difficult rocks that were a challenge to finish in the time provided. This years obsidian took that part of the challenge out of the equation. It was good to see an RTH member get the win. I really thought we could nab 1,2,3 this year. A big part of this contest is trying to not think about what five rocks you like best and thinking what the judges will like best. I chose to go with variety by sending 4 different types of obsidian. The top three contestants each only sent in two varieties each so I may have made a bad choice there. I guess using $3 a bottle Voss water in final polish didn't work? LOL Final polish was Linde A Thanks for looking Chuck

nice looking batch. Awesome to think that someone from RTH has taken home 1st place for the past 3 years. How long has this contest been going?

Wow, Chuck!!!! ...hard to believe someone beat those!!! Beautiful!!!
In the second picture, the rock on the left (yes, the left left) reminds me of a moonscape image looking out the window of one of the lunar orbiters back around 1970. Really nice work, Chuck!!!

Btw...I don't see any losers there! Normally I would agree but in a contest you only have winners and losers. I was happy with the batch otherwise. Chuck

Dazzling! In the 1st pic, what is the piece at the 4 o'clock position called?

Dazzling! In the 1st pic, what is the piece at the 4 o'clock position called? I believe that one is "silver sheen". That one probably don't show the shine as well as the dark ones but I wanted to add it in for variety. They said all of the material was collected at Davis Creek.

Winners in my book. I especially like the 12'o'clock mahogany.
Newbie question: what is the contest you are referring to?

Those looks awesome!! I noticed in the pictures of both yours and my non entry rocks that the black ones really show the shine best.

They look like winners to me!
Tumbling takes a lot of patience and know-how. You've got it.
