I had some touch ups to do and a few odds and ends, and I still managed to get these done, too. A good day. Really sweet freeform of Morgan Hill Poppy jasper. It is so shiny that I had a hard time getting a picture even in the light tent with a polarizing filter!! I took it to 50k. This was just a broken sliver. I got a 50x15mm cab from it. Super cool landscape with a meteorite smashing into it throwing up debris. This was a cab I got on ebay. It was a horrible, horrible cut. It is so big and pretty and was so cheap that I bought it to recab. It's actually more red than orange. 53x30mm A lovely amazonite. This is some of the material I got from hubrocks. I don't know if he even lurks here anymore, but I miss him. This was self collected by him in WA. Red jasper agate. Mexican Dendritic Chrysocolla. This stuff just falls apart! I went to make precabs and ended up with pieces to freeform. This is one. Willow Creek. This has some agate in it, too. Sonoran Dendritic Rhyolite Thanks for looking!

Some real cool cabs but I keep scrolling all the way back up to look at that first one again. Looks like a rare "solid" piece of morgan hill.

As always, they are all stunning, but that Morgan Hill is a knockout. I also love how your shape enhances the movement of the willow creek's flowing bands.

Vera nice Tela! You should try backing your crumbly green rocks with steel reinforced Devcon epoxy. Just mix it up and smear thin across a sheet of wax paper, press the slab lightly into it. When dry just peel the wax paper off and cut preforms out of the slab epoxy and all. I also soak the thing overnite in water before slabbing, trim sawing or cabbing.

Cool! Love that Dendritic Rhyolite. It's all top notch cab-tastic stuff though.

orrum, thanks Bud! I have heard that before but, I had never cut this stone before so didn't think to do it. I'll take your advice on the crumbly green ones- of which chrysocolla usually is.

I have a few slabs of chrysocolla and maybe the bit I got was better quality, it hasn't been a problem (knock wood). Curious, what's behind the soak in water, why does that make it less likely to crumble?

Porous stone soaks up the wster and it just doesn't crumble as bad or fracture. Don't know the reason but it works on opal, turquoise, cryscoola, etc.

Now if I could get my paws on your cabs I might just die and go to heaven. I hope this is not read the wrong way.
