I have a motor l think 1 hp. But not sure. Rpm. 1750. Do l have to control the rpm. And if how can l do it.

Pulley size is what will control the speed of your lap.Bigger motor pulley and smaller working pulley = faster speeds. Smaller motor pulley and larger working pulley = slower speeds.

Unless you're powering an awfully big polishing machine, 1 HP is way overkill both in needed power & higher costs on your electric bill. For most flat machines, 1/3 HP is plenty of power.
