Its worse than that in my mountains since there is no machinery so you don;t know where the rocks are coming from. This year I watched a 10,000lb (give or take) boulder come down naturally where, if it happened 2 minutes later, I would have been standing.

What mountains are you in Glen? Talkeetnas... they are almost always actively eroding.. I put up a video as a warning from one mountain in a very remote area... another mountain I go to i'm going to bring a hardhat next time.

Yeah, we don't have mountains like that in south Alabama. Looks pretty rugged.

Anyone else find the CNN headline misleading? "Hunters" make it sound like these people were on a holiday and casually collecting jade. They were sleeping in the mine when the land slide came down...who sleeps in a mine at the end of the day after working in it all day? "enslaved jade miners killed" would have been a more accurate headline.

The article now says more than 100 killed! No wonder the U.S. has an embargo on the stuff.
