Your rock does look quite a bit like mine, Andrea. It's probably granite, but looks a little different than the average granite. txrockhunter, my jig looks almost exactly like Chuck's. I coated mine with bar top epoxy resin that I had left over from another project. Just make sure you waterproof it really well if you use plywood like I did. It's easy to overcut the corners, even with the jig. I try to stop a little short from each side and then touch them up with the blade while looking at it from the side. That way I can see exactly how far into the corner the blade is going. I also cut off the ends of each arm before doing the inside corners. If you don't, you can have some chipping as the blade finishes the cut. For example, if you cut the two top inside corners first, then went back to trim off the very top of the cross, you'd be more likely to chip the very top at the end of the cut. Another tip is to drag the edge backwards along the blade if you need to trim a little width off. It's difficult for me to get everything perfect on the first try, so when I get done, I flip the cross over so I can't see the lines, then I touch up anything that is a little off. I had a friend make my stencil using a machine that people use for scrapbooking. It cuts out paper, but you can put plastic sheets in it too. It think it's called a cricket or Crick Cut or something.
