Pulled em out early to check progress in Borax burnish. Thin enough to see inclusions that give them color. 2 step SiC 30 in rotary and AO 500 in vibe. broseph82 Intheswamp

That second photo nailed it. You done good on those. Chuck Sawing chunks into 1-2 inch thick slabs for breaking into good tumbles has become standard procedure Chuck. It greatly reduces scrap and fractured rocks. I know with great certainty I will not have to cherry pick during coarse stage. Purchase or self collect material 3 inches and up to 6 inches for 18 inch slab saw. Bigger the slab the better. It reminds me of SPC, Demming's zero defects program. I have bad luck with other supplier's pre-broken tumbles. I traded a couple of fancy coral specimens with Roy. For some slab size chunks of bloodstone and palm. Upon arrival they will go straight to the slab saw to be slabbed thick. In some cases I will saw a rock bigger than my blade will handle. Remove it from the saw and pop it with a hammer to finish the saw cut. Does well enough for reduction. And letting the rotary grind out the coarse grit on the last charge allows straight shot into vibe with AO 500. With minimal clean outs. Amazed that thick slurry sure seems to break that SiC down so efficiently.
