One guy digging footings will evolve into a crew laying block and then to framers and roofers and electricians and plumbers and you will be in your new shop in no time! Yup, take pictures.
What's the move in date estimate?

captbob Move in estimate is early April. Hopefully no delays along the way. Fossilman I will take lots of pics of the process. I'm so excited I will be able to move out of my temporary rock shop aka the laundry room. Also can't wait to get the saws up and running.

You're going to have to buy more equipment and rocks or it will look sooooooooo empty.

Trench is done. I wonder if I should go through the dirt to see if there is anything good buried in it.

Don't look for rocks. If you find anything good, you'll end up bringing back that CAT and digging test pits everywhere. It gets messy after that.

Keep posting pics along the way! What are the dimensions? Half way through planning my new shop right now but we are still in the throws of winter up here.

Tell the builder that you want it over 3 feet to the right.
The look on his face should be priceless!

Ask him if you can add a basement.

DirtCleaner The entire building is 25' x 60'. My portion is 10' x 25'. It will have its own entrance and window. Also air conditioning and heating. The rest of the garage is for my husband's classic cars. captbob I'm sure it would be priceless. No more delays...it's staying right where it's at. We bought this house in September specifically to build the garage. When we submitted the plans to the city they said that we could only build a 600 sf garage because the property was .99 acres. We are 500 or so sf short of the acre required. Apparently there were some zoning issues for the neighborhood and it did end up getting approved as planned. Whew..my husband was ready to call a realtor when they said that. Andrea

Awesome! Look forward to watching the progress on this rock shop/classic car garage combo! Do you guys do the car shows? There's a regular weekend show just up the street from us at Mixteca, pretty cool

What state are you in? We just got a foot of snow last night, so there's not a whole lot of construction going on here this time of year. You should plant something on that lot when the garage gets done. I've never seen a lot so devoid of green. There's not even a weed!

beefjello We have been to the Mixteca show a few times but never brought the cars. My husband has a 69 Chevelle and a 55 first series Chevy truck. Someday maybe will bring them. He also has a 67 Chevy truck that is not complete and wants to start working on it in the new garage. Jugglerguy. I'm in AZ, the primary color is brown. There are three trees in the backyard and a little bit of grass. Any weeds are sprayed. The front yard has a lot of plants and trees. See...a tree And then there's this

Oh, I see it now, a tree! Looks a bit different than Michigan. I've never been to Arizona. I'd like to go sometime.
Good luck with the building project. I look forward to the pictures.

And then there's this Well jumping Jehosaphat, it's a weaponized cockroach! Thankfully, my weapon was more powerful than his. He was at the door. I said go away, he didn't leave. He came in, weapon drawn. I had to get my weapon (shoe off foot) I let out a battle cry (screamed like a little girl), down came my weapon.....SQUISH....I win.

It's been just over a week since they dug the trench. Today, someone finally showed up to work on the garage/rock shop.

I'd be burning up the phone lines to my contractor if I waited a week just for someone to show up to put in the forms for the footings. How long are they saying the concrete will have to cure before they can start on the block?
