Gettin' there.
Your saw isn't going to be set up in the same room as all those display cases is it?

Gettin' there. Your saw isn't going to be set up in the same room as all those display cases is it? No it is in a back enclosure room that measures 10 x 7. It is a 16" Nelson and the quietest saw I have compared to my others. I am going to build a box to put underneath and put sound board up on the walls to keep the sound level to a minimum.

I am also going to be using mineral oil, if you look at 5th picture I think, you can see the Brown door behind the counter to the right. That's the room that the saw is in and the door on the left is the restroom. I do not have another shop adjoining the side with where the saw is placed.

I'm gonna ask - 'cuz that's just how I am and no one else probably will ...
Do you have any higher end rocks to put on those shelves? You just holding back on bringing in the good stuff until the store is ready to open?
Looking at your eBay store, there are 300+ items but none over $100 and the vast majority below ten bucks.
Gonna take a boat load of thunder egg halves to pay the rent on a place like that.
Guess I'm basically asking, what are you going to be selling to draw people in and make them want to come back for more? Have you got any larger windows on the front of the store to have window displays to draw folks in?

I have large petrified wood rounds that will be available, that are being worked on now and will also have large amethyst cathedrals. I know that I have a lot of work ahead of me to get "high end" however I am going to do everything I can to make this successful. I have high end fire Agates, Australian Opal, and lots of other good material that I would never even think about listing on EBay. I have spheres high end ocean jasper slabs, Malachite, Crazy lace, Laguna, zacateus, etc...

If you have tourist traffic there I would really play up the Oregon Thunder Eggs. Also Sun Stones. Oregon beach rocks, wood, etc. Tourists like area specific material. The crystal market is always good.

The crystal market is always good. You right about the thunderegg, Agates, & wood. I am making a large print out in the store stating the history of the thunderegg and it being the state rock. I do not have any good quality sunstones at this time, just about 50 lbs of the rough thats not much good for anything other than tumbled. I have some impressive wood that I will photograph and about 250 lbs of the coarse, medium, and fine grit. I have 70 lbs of the tripoli, the red stuff that is. Its a start and have lots of learning ahead of me.

Grand opening this weekend? Pm me your address. Yes were opening at 9:00 am this Friday July 1st and will be open until 6:00 pm 7 days a week. Its been busy getting everything priced and set up. Also didn't know that I had to get my scale inspected and licensed to sell by the pound, however I'm able to sell by weight as long as it is prepackaged. I will get that done asap and will place rough and slabs in priced tubs in the mean time. The address is Street Car Village 6334 S. Hwy 101 Lincoln City, OR 97367. Thanks So Much for your Support. Mark...

I put "weight approximate" notices on my table if selling by pound. Then round down to customer's advantage. Prepackaged better though. Or put price on the rock. We used to sell tumbling rough by the scoop. Had a lot of fun seeing how much rock people could fit on the scoop. All was from my dad's old store inventory so no cost to me.
