Amazing how that stuff looks a lot like the stuff collected in northern Colorado.
Small World.

Nice stuff from my neck of the woods. I like that specular hematite. That stuff must have made some nasty slurry. I know cabbing it is a mess.

Michigan rocks! I love them. That copper granite is really cool. I have found copper or other metal in several rocks I have collected up there.
The key to collecting good unakite is to avoid the stuff that looks speckled like granite. Streaks of color are better than speckles. Pure green always comes out nice, the red parts are more prone to going bad. Dark red seems to be better than lighter reds or oranges.
The jaspelite turned out nice. Where did you collect it, beaches, mine dumps or Jasper Knob? I find that the beach jaspelite has tumbled best for me. My theory is that rocks that survive Lake Superior are proven to be tough enough to tumble. The weak gets weeded out.

I got the jaspellite at jasper knob. Someone had been kind enough to knock down a chain link fence. That's where all the lose stuff was. The straight up hematite was from tailing piles around one of the old iron towns. I'll have to look up which.

I get specular hematite from Champion, MI. There is a mountain of the stuff. I didn't have great success with the Jasper Knob material. I much prefer beach rocks, but they're a lot harder to find.
