A Texas-sized temperature swingGrand prize for the most dramatic frontal passage goes to West Texas, where the cold air mass plowed south on Saturday in the form of a classic “blue norther” (sometimes called a Texas norther). A mesonet station about 6 miles west of Denver City, TX, reported a temperature drop of 36°F in just 10 minutes--from 21°C (70°F) to 1°C (34°F)--accompanied by winds of 40 knots (46 mph) gusting to 69 knots (79 mph). www.wunderground.com/blog/JeffMasters/cold-wave-crescendos-with-a-frigid-weekend83° here. Only supposed to get up to 78° tomorrow. Sweater weather! may have to put on a shirt

Took us longer than 10 minutes here in Gillespie County Texas but our drop was 59 degrees or more. I've been at Woodward ranch in the spring time and had it go the other way. Seven in the AM and it was in the 20's and blowing a gale of icy sleet. Started digging plume agate and by afternoon we were all sweating in 80 degree temps. Texas is wonderfully weird!....Mel

Texas is wonderfully weird! Texas observation from my trip. In Houston there were many flags flying. US and Texas flags hoisted tall on polls at many buildings. Almost always BOTH flags on separate poles. Seldom Texas flag below US flag on the same pole. In San Antonio, there were WAY more flags flying. Flags everywhere. Again, both flags, separate poles. Proud people!! Poles that tall and flags that big ain't cheap! Down south in Laredo and even more so in Zapata, very few flags displayed. Some US flags, few Texas flags. People nearer border less proud of USA / Texas? Rather be flying Mexican flag? Can't afford tall flag poles? Dunno... just found this curious. Never have seen elsewhere in the country so many US / State flags flying as I saw in San Antonio. Hurrah for Texas!

How is it that if you are a Mexican (or whatever) and proud of your flag that is GREAT! But if you are a southerner and proud of your flag

But if you are a southerner and proud of your flag I have a high quality 4x6' Confederate flag on my short Christmas wish list. 3x5' flag is too small on my flag pole. Put a 20' flag pole in the front yard this past year. Old Glory is gonna have to take some days off next year for a good cause*. *upsetting liberals
