I'm interested in seeing everyone's thoughts on this - I have quite a bit of the classic Chinese Writing stone with it's somewhat dark green background and general dullness. I also have quite a bit of Flowerstone from British Columbia. This seems like a combination of the two but the matrix is dark black and the characters are vibrant white. It's really attractive material and I can't wait to make a few cabs from it. Old school Chinese Writing Stone? Something else?

Wow! That is very vivid with lots of contrast. Love the really dark background. I think the characters look a bit different from CRS. What do y'all think? I know it isn't, but the characters look a bit like pinolith.

Beautiful but different from what I'm used to seeing. Stuff I'm familiar with s kind of ehh gray to dk green with skinnier more diffuse crystals that look more like letters. I think your material is prettier and much more striking....Mel

Yes I concur Mel. In the same bin were these three distinct but different materials. In the middle is what I would consider the 'normal' CWS. The one on the left is almost as interesting as the one I posted above. Very much reminds me of BC flowerstone in color but the pattern is wrong.

Tommy, the box I sent you has some porphyry in it although the phenocrysts are quite a bit smaller than your examples.
