Thanks guys. I swear i looked up tablespoons / cup conversion before i started tumbling and know it's not metric, but had 10/1 locked in. Senility is sneaky.

I will be opening up my tumbler some time this weekend with the hopes of moving onto the final burnish with Borax. That movement has prompted another question (probably over-thinking again).
Is it okay to use the plastic pellets from the polish stage in the burnish stage, or should I use fresh pellets? I know you don't normally move pellets along due to potential contamination from grits in earlier stages, but does the same hold true when doing the final burnish after polish? Thanks and regards.

Well, with no replies, I took the high road and used new pellets for the burnishing. I figured since I was looking to eliminate all residue from polishing, why use pellets from that stage if that only adds to the problem. I still would like to see opinions for projects down the road. Thanks and regards.

Wouldn't you want to clean your pellets off in the burnish stage too ?

I thought about that, but I figured I'd just save those pellets for use in the polish stage down the road. My thinking ended up being, "why add more stuff (pellets) that are dirty/contaminated when I don't have to?" Perhaps it's six of one thing, a half dozen of another, but that's the way it went. When I get home from a brief out of town trip, I'll have to work on posting photos of the batch. There's nothing special about the rocks, but I'm pretty satisfied with the results.

aDave, you did the exactly right thing. No six of one..., it was a right or wrong choice and you chose right. New pellets for final burnish and save the polish beads for future polishing.

Just my 2 cents worth,I run only 2 TBSP's of polish per barrell on my C45...........The rocks come out shining... That's a valuable two cents, as is the info from captbob. While I got some decent results, If I don't need to use that much polish, I won't. Next go-round, I'll be cutting back quite a bit. Considering that Lortone doesn't sell grit that I've seen, I wonder why they recommend so much polish. You folks have been doing quite well with far less. Thanks again and regards. Dave
