Awesome I clicked on the first pic to see more of the rock on the right and it looks like "puppy agate": very realistic. Ha! I've got all the puppy agate I need right now, Colin. I thought that would take you to the album, but I suppose it went to the photostream. Here's the album link.
March tumbles
Very nice. I think I still prefer the puppy agate, though. Soft fluff stuff with sharp teath.

Stunning as always.
I would cause someone moderate body damage for your photography skills...just, uh.. kidding. Yeah. <cough>

OMG Garage Rocker . Amazing...just amazing. Too many to pick a favorite, though I do really like #11. It looks like a structure encapsulated in a stone. If you don't mind me asking, what's your photo/lightbox setup? Regards. Dave Thanks, Dave, there's a lot going on in those Lagunas. I don't now if you've looked, but click on that photo (#11) and it will take you to that image in flickr. Left click inside that image and you can zoom and pan around. Amazing structures in there. I spend too much time looking at them.
I've shared my photography set up in other threads. I think it was covered best in this thread.
November tumbles The photo talk starts on page two.
But here's what it looks like.
I went to that thread. Thanks very much. Very interesting use of backgrounds. In the photo of your lighting and background, where would your camera set up be? And, I assume you use a tripod, yes? Thanks. Dave

Thanks. Dave You might find me anywhere in that picture with my camera in hand, looking for the most flattering angle and least glare. I got into that habit while working as a portrait photographer. It's cumbersome to keep moving a tripod around, especially when photographing active kids. Also, changing the angle of attack keeps it interesting and not so clinical. The only time I use a tripod is if I am doing extreme macro shots. That said, every photo in this album was shot hand held with my macro lens. I would get too bored with a tripod and assembly line photo production.

Garage Rocker Randy, I've run out of superlatives for your batches. Feeling a little inadequate at the moment....

Superb tumble. I love the lagunas, expecially the ones that have all the little red dots sprinkled in the bands. -Don

How important is the Borax? I have been avoiding it since it will kill the vegetation and I don't really know how to get rid of the slurry with borax in it. It's not, in my opinion. Soap works just as well, and even that, I don't use all the time anymore.

I can see why. If I had seen the movie, I would certainly have recognized that. This rock shall be named 'Rocky'.

Garage Rocker Randy, I've run out of superlatives for your batches. Feeling a little inadequate at the moment.... Thanks, Mike, no superlatives necessary. Just want to share them, I'd be taking the photos for myself, regardless. After I yank them out of their home, abuse them with a hammer or slash them with a saw, throw them into a barrel and let them bang around in the dark for a few months, I feel they deserve to be shown in their best possible light. I just happen to have a background in photography, that's all. And the tumbles, just start with good material and then, for the most part, it's just sitting on your butt and waiting.

its very much a cult classic. there is no middle ground you will either love it or shut it off a few minutes in. the classic anyway. the 2016 version with the transgendered person from orange is the new black playing frankenfurter sucked!!! the girl who played janet nailed it. and ivy levene singing the intro. the rest murdered their songs. ps its a musical lol.

I have looked your prior threads over and over, most were before my time here. You, sir, are a master tumbler! I encourage any of you new members to go back and look at Don's batches, they are very inspiring. Here are just a few I really like. Thanks for the compliment, and for the chance to go down memory lane and re-visit some of my old tumbles! I think the ocean jasper tumbles were my favorites I've ever done. -Don

That's some off the chart tumbling Randy. Love the dots in the fortifications of the Mick Jagger lips stone. Better that Nat Geo photos too.

All are so beautiful, but I love the one that looks like coral in a misty sea cave. #19!

I don't know which is better, your stones or your photos. Both are amazing!
