Where about are you heading too? I will be in the Fort Steel area in early May. To check out a Moose pasture gold claim a buddy bought sight unseen on Fisher Mountain.

I'll be near Monty lake 20min east of Kamloops until the 18th, before I turn and burn back east. You going to be in BC late June, July or Aug working your gold claim?

We are going out May 12 for 2 days to check this claim out. If its worth another look, we will be going out again May long or the first week in June. The guys who bought it are rookies and I believe they bought moose pasture. The claim is way up there. 5000 feet plus. I don't think they will have enough water if any at all. A must for placer mining. The only reason I agreed to go is that its covered with hard rock claims. Area is know to have gold, silver and copper. Hope to find some agates too.
After that I will be hitting my Hixon claim a few times all summer. I have a testing permit that I have to get done before it expires.
How often do you go out to Monty Lake?
I will be going out to Bella Coola in August.
Do you stay in Kamloops while there?

I will be going out to Bella Coola in August. Do you stay in Kamloops while there? 5000 feet? gonna be snow up there. The snow line is approx 900m and up right now. Spring is late all the way into the Interior. Taking another trip on the May long weekend. Cut this one a day short so I wouldnt have to drive back in snow again. Took 11 hrs going in with the hour gain and only 10 and a half back with the hour loss, go figure? Between Calgary and Banff I ran into a snowstorm and crappy weather all the way to the interior, cars and trucks were spinning off the road and the trans Canada was at a standstill for almost 2 hrs while they cleared the ditch huggers out. Caught a bit of a break in the weather around kicking horse and pulled into a rest stop for a stretch, and clear enough to snap one pic. haha. Planning to get out there at least once per month all summer. Have to get together one of those times and take you in. I'll keep you posted before each trip. If the weather is decent I stay at the claims or at a buddies house if the weather is crap.

Nasty trip with the roads like that. Snow pac is at 900 m. I knew it would be a tough time getting there, if at all this early. But you can't tell that to two people with gold fever. Glad I'm driving. At least I won't let the fever get me stranded or killed. Will snap some pic's and let you know how made out.

Even the ski hills have extended the year until the end of the month might get into May before they close for the summer? Marmot, Lake Louis and the high country got snow all week again. Have seen the sun only once since last week. Still getting snow Lmao! Calling for warmer temps by next week in the 20s, creeks could be running high and fast by the time you guys get in there, good luck to ya! These pics were between Golden and Revelstoke.

But.....but............BC has had a carbon tax for years to fix that problem. Now Alberta has one too. The Canadian Rockies run up the middle of them. I can understand why the weather is crappy in Saskatchewan, not having a tax and all. Maybe we need to do more!!!! Lets add another 30%, so we can bring things back to normal. Its Trumps fault!!!

Kamloops is the place. That is one crazy town. The big mountains are fabulous, but Kamloops was my choice spot in July.

Kamloops muscle car show. Reminds me of high school days. I had a 67 GTO, 389 6 pack. Buddies had 70 hemi Cuda, 71 Buick GSX, 70 GTO, 69 Z28 302, 69 SS Camaro 396 with crate LS-7 454, Vega w/350 LT-1 mod car, others. The older dude my neighbor had a 70 Dodge Dart 340 that he put a locker 4:11, balance blue printed 340 polished/ported. It looked bone stock but blew all the above cars away lol. I used to set him up with the my high school buddies and especially the guys who thought they were the fastest. Henry made the whole bunch look bad with his Dart Swinger lol.

Old school rules. In it's own way. Bodacious has it's place in this new world. I hope. I drove a friend's modded 1996 twin turbo Toyota Supra in recent years. Holy cow. Hat's off to the new tech cars. Would never call that machine a rice burner. Turbos spooled and kicked in. Spinning 50 series tires at 80 MPH with a inline 6 ? Car had 100,000 miles on it. Modded normally aspirated needed rebuilds after 25,000 miles. Looking forward to your trip spirit. Those seam agates are a treasure. Purples oranges and reds w/crystal vugs, hard to go wrong. Beautiful country. Spectacular I stayed in Golden when passing over the rockies from Idaho(affordable).

Your bud must of went through brake pads like toilet paper, Haha! Had some good times in a few of those cars mentioned. Surprising how quick the small cars are tricked up nowadays, seen a few of the posts on youtube etc... One other thing I forgot to mention. I moved this to Specimen pics if anyone is looking for it, here's a link to the page. I have a couple more polished I should post soon. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/78467/bc-seam-agate

The sight unseen claims in BC (sold on Craigslist and Kijji) are usually sold by pirates who create a good story and the spot does not "pan out". Hope your friend did not get rooked.

If you fish, there are some really nice places for trout. Last time I was there (two weeks), I rented a convertible Mustang and had a blast driving the highways. Not a great car for the dirt roads, but did it anyway...

Some of those roads have a 13% grade on long slopes with fun curves. Never experienced such. Close to sea level right up to 10,000+ feet. Need lots of grunt to pull those slopes and a good tranny for downshifting. You must live close ?
