rockpickerforever you're a winner! as usual... Not to be nit picky but I think the lap is a vibe not a rotary yes? The sandal is hilarious Thank you. It's always a great show, full of all kinds of neat goodies. Tommy, it's kinda both. It vibrates, but also rotates. "Rotating lap" is what they had on it. But you are right, more vibe than rotate. It doesn't spin like a rotating lap. Very similar to my much larger Rose Reciprolap we picked up there a few years ago. I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall and heard people's comments on the sandal, lol.

Thanks Craig socalagatehound and Anne fantastic5 . Craig, I am surprised we have yet to see you there. It is an annual event. We are not even members of their club, yet they allow us to pay them money for buying auction items, take our money for raffle tickets, and even let us pay them to enter their ugly rock contest! Winning prize money for the rock contest allows us to buy $60 worth of raffle tickets, lol. We only entered two rocks this year, and only one was a winner. But winning cool raffle items is always a bonus. In the past I've been very limited in the number of my free weekends. Being a club soccer coach is pretty much a year round, every weekend proposition. Last year was my first spring of no soccer, and I liked it so much I've semi-retired to just coaching high school. So, my excuse for not going this year was a kitchen/dining room remodel that we had to get done before I had my eye surgery last Monday. Almost got it finished, too. And it looks like the surgery was successful, so I can see the rocks again... After seeing your score, I do promise to go in the future!

Jean I want to go shopping with you. I think I have a few slabs of your unknown, I bought at a rock show in Colorado. I will see if I can find them, they were so unusual. I seem to remember they came out of California. I love the shoe that is a winner. I will have to goback and look at them again. Thank you for taking us along with you.

Craig socalagatehound the 2018 SDM&G BBQ and Silent Auction is coming up the end of next month (Saturday April 28, 2018) in Balboa Park (San Diego). You had expressed an interest in going?
If your schedule allows it, I would highly recommend you attend. Lots of good stuff - rocks, finished goods, and equipment - all at great prices. After the silent auction is done, and the monies collected, they hold a huge raffle, chock full of swell stuff. A few years back, we won the grand prize, an amethyst cathedral. We also enter rocks in the ugly rock contest, seem to have one or two winning entries every year. Last year, this was one of our entries:
Stone age footwear, entered in "Embellished" category, 1st place.
We are not members there (yet), but we have been going to this event for years. Being a member is not a prerequisite to attend, or purchase in the silent auction. We do not partake of the BBQ ($15 each!), we usually stop by Subway and pick up lunch for less than $10 for both of us.
Hope to see you there this year. Jean

Yeah, well, we did that last year. Guess I could have made it clearer. But I hope you enjoyed the chance to view the swag again, lol. I posted info for the next SDMG Silent Auction, coming up the end of April. Trying to coax Craig socalagatehound out, he said he'd try to make it one of these years.

Hi Jean I might make it out this year. Right now I'm finishing up preparations to head out in the morning for Stoddard Wells. Staying in Barstow and going out to the Cady mountains Saturday. Contemplating a Texas trip at the end of the month. The Stillwell is up for sale. Latest of the big rockhound friendly ranches to go on the market. None of that has gone well for rockhounds. Might be my last chance there. Should be back before Easter. I promise I'll try. I'm putting the date in my phone.
