Due to an aching back and a bunch of jobs I can't get out of, cab production has slowed. Here are a few I've done over the past several weeks in a variety of materials. Thanks in advance for taking a look. Rio from Mel Unknown White Orby Shield Shape (Wish I had More!) Copper Blend Hay Creek Pink Moss Big Malachite Round Rainforest Jasper Bou Hamza Seam Agate (Morocco) Slab Labeled “Pink Amethyst” -- Anyone know what it is for sure? Brenda Red Top Hydrogrossular Garnet An “I Can’t Remember” from the Owyhees Olympic Poppy Jasper (One of the few with no fractures!)

Great cabs! I LOVE that pink moss and the shapes.
Here is some explanation of your champagne agate. I had some, too. Very nice stuff. This is from an ad for the material that I won.
THIS WAS PURCHASED AS PINK AMETHYST AGATE FROM BRAZIL BUT IS MARKETED AS CHAMPAGNE AGATE WHEN SOLD AS JEWELRY. DOESN'T LOOK LIKE ANY OF THE OTHER PINK AMETHYST AGATE WE'VE SEEN AND I BELIEVE IT WAS A POCKET OF DIFFERENT MATERIAL THEY HIT WHEN MINING PINK AMETHYST BECAUSE WE'VE BEEN TRYING TO FIND MORE SINCE 2009 WITH NO LUCK. LIMITED SUPPLY OF THIS VERY PRETTY MATERIAL.
VARIES QUITE A BIT FROM A PASTEL BANDED AGATE TO PURPLE'S AND PINKS WITH BUBBLES AND EVEN SOME THAT IS BANDED WITH GREAT MOUNTAIN SCENES. ALL OF IT TAKES A GREAT POLISH. SOME WILL HAVE CRYSTAL LINED VUGS WHICH ARE USUALLY PINK. MOST IS VERY SOLID WITH A FEW SMALL CRACKS SHOWING UP ONCE IN A WHILE. IF IT HAS A WHITE OUTER RIND THE OUTER RIND IS USUALLY SOFT ON THE OUTSIDE & SLOWLY GETS HARDER THE FARTHER IN YOU GET. I USUALLY AVOID INCORPORATING THE RIND INTO MY CABS BECAUSE OF THIS.

Ron's Rocks back in Commiefornia sold that Brazilian agate as " Wood Agate" or some such name. I bought two slabs. Strongly resembles Luna Agate from Mexico except it appears it might be be a vein material. Pinkish purple but washed out in pic....Mel

Thanks for that rockjunquie . I think you nailed Champagne Agate based on a search of images. (Cue Don Ho singing "Tiny Bubbles." Yes, the white rind is soft, a lot like some of the orby Mexican Imperials, but it can be cut with care. I incorporated it into the cab for color contrast and I think it really completes the overall pattern. Nice stuff -- I'll be looking for more. I have enough left for a couple more cabs.

You may have been short on cabbing time but i gotta say those are outstanding. Love them all, the copper blend catches my eye. I wouldn't turn down any of them. Smokin

It's a porcelain jasper and somewhere in the nooks and crannies of my memory I get a whisper that it came from the McDermitt, NV area, not the Owyhees. But I'm really not sure. It's been sitting around uncut for 30+years.

Thanks for the beer thought. A beer picture is about as close as I can get to the stuff these days -- but I used to enjoy it a lot.

Thanks for the beer thought. A beer picture is about as close as I can get to the stuff these days -- but I used to enjoy it a lot. Yeah I enjoyed it a lot more before gout.. Love getting old.. grin.. Anyone with gout has my total sympathy. In fact it's why I quit drinking beer and all alcoholic spirits. Gout has to be one of the most painful maladies around -- I'll never forget the miserable time I spent with one foot up on a stool which helped relieve the pain...a little. When I quit alcohol the gout vanished. Diet's a big part of treatment too, as is a daily dose of Allopurinol. Hope you get yours under control.

Yep allopurinol and no spinach.. Beer drives it crazy. Cant find my indomethacin right now and walk a lot at the nursery so get cramps from favoring the gout part. Dang hate this getting old thing and all its fun pains. The only crystals we don't like.. thanks for the kind words.

Dang hate this getting old thing and all its fun pains. The only crystals we don't like.. thanks for the kind words. Can you say "purines" Cliff? Gotta watch what you eat for sure. Mrrockpicker has gout. It was plenty painful for me whenever he had a gout attack, although he hasn't had one in a while, knock on wood. Years ago, when first diagnosed, his doctor put him on allopurinol and indomethacin. His father had also suffered from gout, was on the same meds. FIL told Bob the indomethacin will give you an ulcer, it did to him. So when his doctor prescribed them, Bob asked about the ulcer connection. Doc says, "Oh, yeah, they'll give you an ulcer. But then we'll treat you for that." How's that for honesty? lol.
So probably a safe bet that his recent medical episodes (losing blood in digestive tract and becoming anemic) are related to using indomethacin. Or, could have been a host of other NSAIDs he was taking for pain. No more Alleve for him, no baby aspirin before taking Slo-Niacin (reduces flushing), so he no longer takes that, either. As a consequence, his cholesterol level has gone way up.
Cholesterol level, however takes a backseat to unexplained blood loss. Has had an upper endoscopy, found esophageal ulcers, severe gastritis, and a hiatal hernia. Oh, joy. He has had to stop taking some drugs, and is taking others. Next up, colonoscopy. Nothing out of the ordinary found there. Last event, capsule endoscopy, for the reaches of the intestine that were not covered by the first two procedures. Again, nothing found to explain it. What the gastroenterologist hopes is that by taking the new meds, everything will heal up, he will quit losing blood and being anemic. Labs at the end of this month, we'll see how his iron level is doing, and go from there.
Long story short, watch out for NSAIDs, they can do you in!
Oh geez, did I type all that? Sorry for the major thread derail, Tela. (Cliff started it!) Will remove it all if you wish, just say the word.

Not my thread, Jean. Rant away. Always good to hear real world experiences. Naprosyn twice a day gave me heart palpitations. Yup. A known side effect. Thanks! Take meds for that now, too. I really hope your man finds an end to all of this!
