Keep your eyes open wherever you are! About 6 weeks ago in Virginia I found a quartz point similar to the ones jamesp posted... at a picnic area on a I-95, with sveral lanes of traffic roaring by. I said to it, "Oh, you're not like the other little rocks, are you." It was so obvious to me, I was amazed nobody had picked it up before. Too busy texting, I suppose.

Found these where Ann and Melissa went last weekend. I forgot to mention the bird point spot next to the power lines. Don't suppose they are going to be angry w/me.

We actually didn't collect anywhere on Saturday. Mel and her sister were anxious to get back home and Summerville Quarry was operating that day. Next time she comes through we will try to hit both sites. But...dang it Jim....you found all of those at Kingston? ?

Not that close Ann, but in this giant field surround by the bend of the Etowah. But, the corn fields along the Etowah River not 2 miles from there. This one in particular. Put your kayak in on Hwy 20/411 at south side of bridge during the winter. Paddle up to the first fish weir and climb up on the plowed field and start picking up artifacts. Then hit the second fish weir, around the bend. Fish weirs ?? Look to left lower and right upper corners. Plowed land above a fish weir is a dead ringer. 100's of broken points that would not match up. Many whole points. Human bones and teeth, guess they plowed burials. Hot artifact spots.

Another fish weir is south(upstream) of 20/411 bridge with prepped soil on the east bank. Never stomped around it.

Those are spectacular! Mostly woodland? Next era probably. Misisippi culture. This site is mostly woodland and Mississippi These were found 20 miles from home on two acres. It was a clearing that was left for a year. Not plowed, just rained on. All 4, Paleo, Archaic, Woodland and Mississippi. Most diverse imported materials and ages of any site I ever collected. They finally graded over it. It should have been reported to the state archeologist. No other site in Georgia with such diversity. Not close. Did not put a dent in the artifacts. Wished I could have plowed it. Archeologists should have dug the whole 2 acres. Peachtree City Georgia, the best dozen are not shown.

I wouldn't go that far. LOL! C'mon Tela I'm not sure if that was sarcasm or not. I guess it is no secret that I adore the man I married and he is very good to me. BUT, he can get on my nerves and he CAN be passive aggressive- as I find most men can be. So- Dear, yes; Angel, no. And, I don't know you personally or in any great depth, but from what I do know- you seem to be a very good husband, too. Every marriage/relationship has it's ups and downs. That's completely natural.

That is just incredible! I wonder why so much, and so much diversity, in one small area? Water access, maybe? Find any other tools?

That is just incredible! I wonder why so much, and so much diversity, in one small area? Water access, maybe? Find any other tools? yes tools. But a lot of broken ceremonial pieces. Flat Creek is an unusual topographical layout, kind of a bowl, sand soil, many springs. It is an expensive community with the most golf cart paths (maybe) in the US running thru Flat Creek wetlands. probably found over 50 camps when they put in 3 golf courses and industrial zone. This one was the star. It was simply the chosen spot, too many varieties of materials and length of occupation. The chunk of land protruding out in lake on east shore center of screen. This lake was probably a food rich beaver impoundment back in their day. Flat and sandy, el primo for a long term camp.
