I forgot to add that I used to do one week 60/90, 220, 400, 600. But these 40lb barrels weigh 75 lbs. loaded, and I'm not getting any younger, so that's a lot of lifting. There isn't any difference between the two methods. I don't need to stock as much grit, and my back likes it. PS I use a Viking vibe unit for pre and polish.

Those were a couple really good posts captbob . Well said. Chuck Thanks Chuck. Being a 2 finger typer, something like that long one takes me over an hour. Never know if it is worth the effort or whether I go to far! Hope it helps someone now or down the road.

Very good post capt'n bob the wife had to come by and nudge me a couple times and asked if I was sleepin? But I think I got most of that. All the Meds they got me on and the Warfrin gets me sleepy and As Far as Making them and I Quote "Make 'em GOOD rocks. I'm sick and tired of biting my tongue when some newbie posts pictures of CRAP tumbled rocks! " UNQUOTE As far as making them GOOD rocks I don't have any of those yet, all I have is CRAP TUMBLED ROCKS cause well that's where I am at in this hobby so far hopefully one of these days I can show you some good stuff to make you and everyone else proud of me. Until that time comes I will continue asking SQUIRRLEY QUESTIONS that probably make you all roll yer eyes. Don't worry I enjoy all the bantering back and forth seeing all I have seen in my life where I have worked there is not too much that surprises me. So keep posting and don't change a thing! Cheers ~Duke the newbie

I thought you were just getting started with tumbling Duke. Did you tumble rocks previously to joining here? The very first batch of rocks I ever tumbled were tiger eye and tiger iron. Many of them are sitting in a dish on my disk right now. They are as nice as most anything I have ever tumbles since. It ain't rocket science!

Been Tumbling for two weeks. The Wife and I were going to take our RV to Fla for 5 months we had planned on leaving Dec 26th. Going to Ocala staying to april. But this STROKE done jumped up on me, and tho I seem to be getting better I am far from 100% yet . We pretty much decided to sit the winter out up here. I was gonna ask you maybe some spots to look for some rocks if we ever came down that way. This next year the 2001 Four Winds will be rolling prolly to the UPPER PENINSULA and other points of interest till then I will tumble the Ole Turds I find! ~Duke

Where did I buy the rough? ALL over the place. Much from eBay back in the day.
BTW, Duke Energy is my power company. Can I get a discount now?

Capt'n Bob I designed and installed 38 Solar Panels 100% myself last year, and finished my Array this spring before getting all STROKED OUT. I prolly have around 17 to 18 K Invested but with a 6 year payback plus the 30% Tax rebate it lowers my total investment to about $12,600.00 that's running nearly a 16% return Interest rate on my money. It's actually a NO BRAINIER to do this. I have no Electric Utility Bill from March to Oct 8 months and my credit pays for the months I do use electricity off the grid which is NOV, DEC, JAN, FEB. If anyone wants more information you can contact me by PM If you can do the work yourself you can save BIG BUCKS normally aa system like this would cost over $50,000.00 complete ~Duke
