Re: the guy pulled over with the "arsenal". Were it not for full auto rifles which are a no no, that would just be a Texas shooting outing. Heck, a couple of rifles, a couple of pistols a bunch of ammo and camping gear. Come on, I know lots of guys who show up at the club with four or five rifles and several pistols and a pile of ammo all the time. Heck I saw a gal the other day with four guns. Non shooters just don't get it. I know guys who regularly shoot a few thousand rounds a month, especially if they shoot competitions and reload. Arsenal my arse! Also wonder how they knew they were full auto when the guy was stopped. I couldn't tell without firing them....Mel

Yep, it's the full-auto stuff that cooked the Tennessee guy's goose...

Ok, fine, not an 'arsenal', but that argument is moot when you hear those weapons WERE automatic and had no serial numbers and could not be traced back to him in any way. This wasn't a 'good ole boy' just heading to the range. What range lets you blast off fully auto rifles? And if they do, 900 rounds isn't worth the time to drive there. This guy wasn't playing by the rules, he's a whack job at best and he's going to pay for it. Probably to the benefit of all of us.

Yep, it's the full-auto stuff that cooked the Tennessee guy's goose... Not actually. Most anyone (that is not a felon and a couple other exceptions) may purchase a full auto weapon. Just gotta jump through more hoops. And pay more money. The fact that he modified semi auto weapons to full auto himself and they had no serial #s on them is what's gonna have him behind bars. Had the serial #s been on the guns, the cops may have never looked further. Probably a really good idea to obey all traffic laws when carrying illegal anything in your vehicle.

Actually there are ranges that allow you to shoot automatic weapons and even rent them out for people. There was an incident on one of them last year where some idiot on one of those ranges allowed I believe it was a 14 year old girl to shoot a full auto. I am sure her parents rented it. Some instruction and then he let her shoot. Now he is dead. Darwin awards material in my book.

My old work place had an area where they used to let the employees shoot years ago, including automatic weapons if they had their licensing. Then some idiot decides he wants to play quick draw. Shot himself in the foot. the Insurance companies forced them to shut it down for liability issues. Waivers were not even discussed as far as I know.

There's a reason responsibility and safety should be paramount when firearms are involved.

Yep, my gun club rents machine guns. Costs too much in ammo though and I got some of that in basic the service. It's fun but I'd rather shoot slower.
Yep, it's the full auto and no serials that will get ya. However, it still pisses me off when the media refers to a few guns and some ammo as an arsenal. One club member I shoot with often has a modified camper on his truck that contains a virtual mobile gun shop. In Texas we call that a "modest collection", not a friggin arsenal! Dumbass reporters anyway!....Mel

I guess I should've said "self-modded, no serial numbers, full-auto stuff", eh? Whatever the case, this guy should be feeling right now kinda like a wild hog on a spit being slowly turned over some hickory coals....he's cooked! Hmm, I just read that he had a mask and black fatigues in the vehicle, too. I guess he could claim he's kind of a "goth guy" or maybe a member of Antifa. Authorities also found another full-auto rifle at his house and about $6000 (by somebody's estimate) worth of ammo. What's the proper temperature for roasted pork?

I was thinkin'... maybe it's too soon for such decisions, but I bet some at the Mandalay Bay hotel are thinking on this. What are they going to do with that hotel room? No way they can rent it out ever again. Who would stay in that room? Lots of folks. Not me, but I know of folks that are into creeper stuff. In San Diego there is a museum of murder or some similar. Huh? They will renumber the floor, change the floorplan on that end and it will be very different. Prolly start renting it out in 2 weeks

Hmm, I've seen a few articles about the shooter being prescribed valium and that valium can cause viloence in some people...the articles likened it to how some people go to sleep when they start drinking and some people get mean and want to fight. I guess if you throw that in with someone walking a thin pane of sanity their could (not saying it was) an issue. So this guy's doctor prescribes the shooter some anxiety pills and rather than getting mellowed out this guy gets wound up tighter and tighter and tighter. Interesting theory. So some doctor is standing their with the deer-in-the-headlight-look as a swat team is descending upon him... <sigh> Good point. Would be interesting to know what meds he was on. Many drugs can definitely alter personality. Antidepressants can actually cause suicidal depression even in adults when they first start them. Testosterone and progesterone cause hyperaggression and progesterone can also cause severe depression. NSAIDs like ibuprofen can cause depression......... Too much testosterone will enhance aggressive behaviour. It's the external excess that CAN have enhancing effects on aggressive behaviour. I know from personal experience here. Every single male (including you) has Test coursing through our veins. We ain't all agressive
