Pat, that's old school. The new stuff is epoxy with many varied components mixed in, then surface smoothed to expose those inclusions. One of the dad's on kidlet soccer club did this for a living. Abalone shell, mother of pearl, marbles of many various colours.... All used for various effects.

@shotgunner. Thanks. Our house is 50 years old. How are the paint chips kept solid ? Seems mixing would break them up. Interesting!

What they are Pat is Epoxy Flakes once the Epoxy coating is applied you throw the epoxy flakes in the air and they will fall on the floor leaving a colored pattern. The flakes melt into the epoxy leaving a finish that becomes a single part. you can top coat it with clear for increased durability. Terrazzo has nothing to do with Epoxy-Coat The process is totally different as you can see below.

I think our terrazzo is tile, glued? down, and grouted in between; not the wet layering.

TheRock Duke, I just had a thought, as I've been cabbing lately. Since you'll have a CabKing (I gather you got the 8" - sweet!). With the CabKing, you have a constant need for water. I have a 2 gallon bucket as my source (with the pump in it), and a 2 gallon bucket as my outlet. This setup, however, is suboptimal, and requires emptying the waste bucket and refilling the source bucket too many times - about one bucket per hour. You, being a strong dude, could probably do it with 5 gallon buckets, and that would give you several hours of cabbing time between bucket shuffling. However, if you could find a way to use a much bigger source bucket, and somehow plumb the waste out the side of the wall to the flowerbed outside, that would be a nice improvement. Also, adding a small immersion heater to warm the water might be nice. Not too hot that it would damage the pump, but warmer than tap temperature. I often fill my source bucket with warm/hot water, and I live in nice warm SoCal! In Michigan, even though your shop is heated (right?), I would think warm water to cab with would be extra nice. Mostly though, direct-plumbing the waste water outside would be super useful.

Susan I have a spicket (Freeze Faucet) on the side of the house I had planned on using a water Hose and fill up a couple 55 Gal Barrels and use a pump to have water and the thought has crossed my mind to dump the spoils in the alley behind my garage. I will use 5 gal buckets till I work out a solution. Remember the drain will also freeze during the winter!

TheRock Hm. Well the drain line will be empty except when you're using it. But I guess the water dribbling down it would freeze and block it?

What bothers me more is mice and stuff like that crawling in the drain pipe to get warm or find a way in my Lap Shop. I will hafta install a check valve to keep the critters out.

Don't worry about mice, they are probably already in your shop.

Or just put a cap on it when you're not using it. Or a grate on the end of it. You can always think about that stuff later though after using it a bunch.

coulda done without that, but the wimmins will probably appreciate it ...
Was thinkin' - that those baking sheets under your rotary tumblers have to add (amplify?) noise. Understand the logic behind having them there, but maybe a rubber pad, towel, or something between the tumblers and the metal might not be a bad idea. ?
