His curved lap inventory is depleted, but he is getting more. I asked him to send what he has, and to send the curved laps when he gets them.
Stamp is $80 on this side of the country. He is in Florida.
I am eager!

rockjunquie, you can usually find basanite slabs at rock shows, in the cheapo buckets. Basanite is lighter than other rocks, somewhat flexible (weird, right?) and quality varies. Some can be kind of porous. You might have gem quality jet more available on your side of the country. Black jade is good for the fronts, if you can deal with the hardness.

Tela gotta admit 1.) I haven’t used it enough to have to clean it but I don’t see it being difficult. 2.) All of your work is Top Notch. The good thing is You don’t see much Intarsia anymore. Bottom line: All customers buy when they are inspired to do so. Even us when we see things that yes we could make but buy anyway. MTC, you’d make your money back quicker than you think with this machine. Your pieces will be artful, one of a kinds, not the cheap China stuff. It concerns me that in the future, when this peppy, artistic, Old codjure of an inventor meets his maker, what will happen to this little beauty of a machine? My second reason for buying it was simply to be apart of history. To get to know this man whom built such a wonderful machine for all lapidaries to enjoy. Plus he helped with the building of my favorite place William Holland! Awwww to go sit with him and be able to chat awhile.

Thanks, melhill1659 Yes, I am looking forward to what I expect will be rare quality and customer support. I've already had some emails and phone calls with him. I count myself lucky yto get this machine while I can. I'll probably add to it as I am able.

I'm having a really hard time finding any good information about intarsia online. Seems like it truly is a lost art. Do any of y'all know any good resources? Online or book?

I think there's not much information because there really isn't much to it. Between Pat's tute and my WIP, I think you know how to do it.

I see. Yeah, not too much out there on designs and such. If you google intarsia, you get a bunch of wood stuff. Which is beautiful, but they use a lot of curves. Did you know that the Taj Majal is covered in gemstone inlay? It's stunning! But again, more curves.

I'm having a really hard time finding any good information about intarsia online. Seems like it truly is a lost art. Do any of y'all know any good resources? Online or book? I believe I've seen some examples in rock magazines, maybe a book here or there. But not really instructions, tuts or patterns. I'll keep my eyes out for such.
However I did Google it stone intarsia patterns (you can also try "lapidary intarsia"), there are at least a couple of You Tube videos on that page. And using images , you can at least see a few creations, maybe get some ideas. Know that there are quite a few wood intarsia photos on images. But it is all art!
Seems it is a lot like working in stained glass. Hey, that's an idea, get a book at a craft store with simple (not too many curves) stained glass patterns. Like Susan Bluesky78987 said,
I think there's not much information because there really isn't much to it. Between Pat's tute and my WIP, I think you know how to do it.
I know there is much more to it than cutting rock into little pieces and joining them. A lot of thought goes into each one, as one must consider types of stone, colors and textures. I think you are gonna love getting into this, you will have so much fun/
Tela, I'm sure you know how to do it! I'm sure you'll be a natural at it, especially with a new fangled machine! I'd say, "Get to it, Girl!" but I know you are still waiting for it to arrive. Can you say, ANTICIPATION? Looking forward to what you can do with it! Jean

Also maybe try quilting books. Quilting patterns use straight lines mostly don't they?

Also maybe try quilting books. Quilting patterns use straight lines mostly don't they? Great minds think alike. I was thinking the same thing and now - on a personal note- I wish I hadn't gotten rid of all of my mom's hand colored quilt designs on graph paper. It would have been so cool to do some of her designs in rock. I was just never into quilting, so I didn't hang onto her treasure trove. (Unless I did and can't find them.)

Awe heck, you guys talked me into it. It looks like a neat machine New Years is coming if nothing else I can make some drinks with it. Does anyone have any frozen Eggnog recipes for it? Shop is still in the works so no hurry on getting the Curved Lap till he gets em in.
