Almost all of adrian65 's pictures in his intarsia threads are gone thanks to photobucket. BUT, he was kind enough to send them to me for posting again. As you can see, he really thought outside the box and pulled these off beautifully. Thanks for the eye candy Adrian! Adrian: This intarsia is a "K" pendant I made for our friend Karen Hayes (Karenfh on RTH) as a gift when she visited us here back in 2011. As the metal to stone bond is not as strong and reliable as stone to stone bond, I chose to back this pendant with blue tiger eye. The other one is a rather uncommon Bruneau and it's framed with pet wood. The oval one is blue lace and Llanite and the round one is Kamamba jasper and bird's eye backed with kamamba. Notice the extra material I inittially let on the thin end of each piece. I only grind those extra areas after gluing the two pieces together. Forgot one! #6 Adrian The first one is polka dot with a local jasper. I let some extra length on one of the ends groove wrap so I could do that loop around the dot in the polka dot. The othe one is an Lapis Lazulli eye. This was a gift for Amber and Tony's wedding. (RTH members) I was joking to Amber that this way I could be eye wittness to their wedding. The eye itself is Lapis and a small silver ring and the backing is blue tiger eye. As you can see, Amber wore it proudly PA150386: PA150385: PA150384: PA150383a: P9140196: P9140193: P9140184: P9130180: P9130179: P9130178: P9130177: Amber&Tony:

Those are all awesome!! You're making me want to start doing those, lol. (Yeah, like I have that kind of talent - not!)
Thank you Adrian, for sending the photos to Tela, and thank you Tela, for posting them again!
(And curses on you, Photobucket, for making everyone have to jump through hoops. Good thing Adrian still had the photos.)

Looks like a lot of us are.

Thank you adrian65 for sending the pictures and to rockjunquie for posting. Adrian, your work is amazing. Matching those curves so precisely takes this to the next level of awesome! I've been interested in intarsia since I started this hobby. This might be just enough to push me over the edge.

The page above is easily the best of the craft I've seen, thanks to Adrian for making and Tela for putting it up.

Thank you adrian65 for sending those pictures! Absolutely stunning inspiring work. Can I ask what equipment you use to grind those small inside curves? Like on the blue lace/pietersite piece and the yin yangs. Thanks!

Like on the blue lace/pietersite piece and the yin yangs. Thanks! I was using a slim diamond resin wheel (greenish resin stripe stuck around an aluminium disk) mounted on my home made cabbing machine. The resin stripe was shaped a bit curvy, not having sharp edges (which helped me in getting those inside curves). Adrian

It comes with (or you can buy) diamond coated cylinders.

No I don't have a groove grinder. Could probably mount something on the Ameritool though. Or, Jadecarver might have a wheel like Adrian describes.
Thanks Adrian.
