He keeps talking about leaving them all for his wife to have to deal with... apparently all we have to do is outlast him

I want to see what I have in the bottom of a few buckets! Then I’d like to check out a few of the above sites.

Wow, so many places closed now. If I had a time machine, my top three bucket list places would be the Dryhead agate dig ( went there one time), the Baker Rch t-egg digs back when they we just a small open pit in the ground. Got to camp and dig at the Baker Ranch twice ( too much fun) and of course, Woodward Rch. In the olden days that was a blast. Love to hit Burro Creek again and Back Rock Desert and the Oregon t-egg beds but I'd bet one would hardly recognize any of them now and I do miss the north Cadys....Mel

Went to Woodward a couple times in the late 70's when Frank Sr. was still running things. 20 years later the agate was not quite as plentiful and the Walker Ranch took over as the Red Plume go-to place, just a lot more in-frequent availability. Went to Baker Ranch while it was Eddie Lindberg's place also in the late 70's. All those old timers; Frank Woodard Sr., Eddie Lindberg, Sam "rattlesnake" Jones - Bingham NM, Ocus Stanley Mt Ida Ark, Mr. Daley- Silverton rock shop, were cut from a different cloth than most of us and they could all tell a tale.

1. Quartzsite 2. The Geode Kid Collection 3. Arkansas Quartz crystals 4. Big Bend Texas agates 5.Flint ridge Ohio 6. Herkimer Diamonds 7. Hornitos poppy jasper 9. Morgan hill poppy jasper 10. Sterling Hill fluorescent minerals 11. Chapenite, Ft Irwin CA 12. German Agates, Oberdorf or whatever 13. UP Michigan copper meteorites (and the rest) 14. Richardson Ranch Thundereggs 15. Virgin Valley Precious Opal 16. Deer Creek Fire agate 13. Copper meteorites. Please help me here, I have never heard of such a thing. Copper was laid in the basalt along with felspar and calcite. I have heard some mines had quartz also. Some was moved along by glaciers as far south as Green Bay WI. Float copper. There are copper crystals. Copper hybrids, they have bits of silver on tem.

Anyone taking in/on the UP needs to spend a day or two at the Siemens Mineral Museum on the Mich Tech campus on Houghton.

I agree, that place is awesome, even if you don’t think you’re interested in rocks. Tommy, just let me know when you’re in the area and we’ll go. This weekend might not be the best time though.

Fascinating discussion re: copper/meteorites. Hopefully it will generate some "out of the box" thinking.
My bucket list is purely wishful thinking. I'd need to be a lot younger to fulfill it. But here it is anyhow:
1. Go to Indonesia to hunt/buy fine agates, chalcedonies and opals 2. Go to Turkey with the same goals 3. Travel Australia to hunt agates at Agate Creek and elsewhere, sapphires at several locations, and buy/dig opals at Lightning Ridge and other locations, plus explore that continent's many other gem locations 4. Travel Madagascar to buy fine gem rough: sapphires, alexandrite, Tsvorite and many others 5. Visit Sri Lanka with the same goals 6. Take a time machine trip back to the Priday Ranch plume egg deposit where I dug years ago and bloodied my knuckles chiseling eggs out
I'm nowhere near 10 but that's enough fantasizing. I'll just be happy to be able to cab much of the material I've accumulated over the past 30-40 years. That's another fantasy!

I recall a thread captbob was a part of that includes some pretty significant fire power. I'm saying after.

Tommy, just let me know when you’re in the area and we’ll go. This weekend might not be the best time though. Thanks Rob! There is actually an idea here starting to grow legs. After we leave the Nether's Farm event in July we have several days we need to fill and we're seriously considering swinging up that way. Our first line of thinking was to boogie back to the west and spend a week or so site seeing and collecting but - when would we ever get an opportunity like this again...

Great thread! Can't seem to think of locations at the moment. This is what I'd love to self-collect: Carnelian, dino bone, turquoise, precious opal and Fairburn agates. Later, jeri
