Prototypes using store bought glass lol. Only trails. I kissed them all except the one with the mustache. Pencil thin mustache, Rolling Stone emblem attempt, fat lips, skinny lips, little lips, ugly lips and about as many failures not posted.

Well, I did 25 with various arrangements in layers and lengths and combinations. One set up clearly did best so the kiln got loaded with that particular arrangement with a few slight variations.
Problems. Like a 3mm white glass from one company does not flow like a 3mm white glass from another.
For some reason yellow makes a great surround color even when made by several different manufacturers.
Made me think about the person that began making glass eyes way back when. Must have spent a lot of hours trying. Much tougher task.

Now you just have to create all the other body parts and put them together. We shall call you Dr. Frankenjamesstein. I have created life!!!!

Cool. I like the yellow, too. Is there any way to put a black stringer across the solid lips to separate the upper and lower lips? Would be neat if you could do that.
Waiting for you to start adding tongues into the mix to make them even more, uh, interesting....

Waiting for you to start adding tongues into the mix to make them even more, uh, interesting.... I did buy some red glass that has black and red layers random. 3mm thick. Some sections are layered 1mm black, 2mm red. That 1mm black layer may make the separation when turned with black layer as separation layer at lip contact. But yes, working on that as it is paramount Robin. At this point I am just trying to get the outside shape of the lips using this hobby glass. Teeth and lip contact point in sights. Various shades of lipstick and expressions in sights too. The lips are the perfect subject for an art challenge instead of mass producing vase shards and plate melts.

Now James you stumbled on a great subject for glass here. Mr. Picasso's portraits would be excellent subjects for the glass fuser. Do able for sure. I have done 12" X 16" plate melts, all just confetti with no subject. I'd have to get skilled at cutting shapes of glass of which is a bit monotonous and would require some long term focus as opposed to the quicky pendant size pieces. However, jewelry sized pieces are perfect game to be fused together if the glass is compatible which is do able from the glass blower's scraps...

Here is the the lips at 800F, note red is brown and yellow is orange at this elevated temperature. This is the first bulk attempt at lips with hobby glass from a couple of days ago. Maybe 8 different hobby glass specifications used. Most flowed too much. Telling melt. These out this morning. All done with same dimensions, many are duplicates but NOT repeatable in their melt. Getting a step closer but no where near repeatable. hummingbirdstones, note black/red glass tries to make contact point and shade variation if carefully selected. Smoker's lips verses non-smoker's lips
