aDave saxplayerI had some excellent smoked turkey this Thanksgiving. My older brother is the smoker guy in our family. He always brings the good stuff to our get togethers. My boys especially like to go swimming over there and get wings off the smoker. Don't know his prep or technique for turkey, but heard him say he got up at 2:30 to start the smoker and was up again at 7:30, when it was done. Very tender bird, great flavor. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

I realize TG was last Thursday, but was unable to post until we got back. We were out in the desert with NO CELL COVERAGE for four days, yikes. No Google maps satellite view, no Acme Mapper, no Pandora. I did use my Garmin. We survived, and always knew where we were at.
Won't go into it here, but it was a bit different from the usual, camping with people we had never camped with before, and some we had never even met. Did I mention there were some teenagers? The known of going to my dad's for dinner may have been a better choice than the unknown of all that. I understand my brother behaved himself, and we missed out. Oh well. We brought turkey that I had cooked the previous Saturday, and had our turkey dinner, turkey sandwiches, turkey tacos, etc. Will make some turkey soup on Thursday (supposed to rain here) and finish it all up for this year.
All in all, the desert is always a great place to be, no matter the circumstances. Always enjoy the sunshine and fresh air, we experienced perfect weather the entire time. Also brought home more cool rocks!
