This virus is a little different than the better known Rockhound bug, as it attacks those unable to get out in the dirt and hunt down those rocks. Since I'm not able to get out and about, it makes me lurk on forums and websites, so I can see all the beauties that others hound. I learn something new each and every day, and find the extraordinary patterns and colors wonderful. Actually, my daughter passed her love of rocks/minerals/jewelry to me and I now find my own interest growing. Plus, my husband was effectively "retired" a few weeks ago and is now working on getting a gemologist certification. I/we will have many, many questions in the future!! I look forward to reading and learning from this forum, and might possibly even help somewhere, someday. Thank you, all. Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones.

There are many folks that will help expose you to the wonders and diversity of rocks, gems, and natural wonders without having to be everywhere or do everything yourself. Welcome. Its sounds like you have plenty of justification for being here and being interested.

Welcome from Michigan. The only cure is to take 2 rocks and call me when you have 2 more.

Hi AuroraNan! Did you know that some sites will sell you and send you bags of dirt/stones to sift through and find you own fossils, gems, gold etc at home?
