My name is Steve, and I live near Orlando, Fl. Spend a decade or so in East Tennessee and got hooked on rocks. Now that I am retired, I have started honing my skills in lapidary. Most of my stones come from the mines around Franklin, NC. Some stones have turned out pretty well. The best part of it all is that I have a hobby that keeps me interested and busy. I have been a member of this forum for awhile, but have not really participated much. Anyway, I'm looking forward to my adventures as I learn more about cutting and shaping stones.

Welcome from another relatively new guy from an hour east of you in Melbourne FL. It's a pity our mineral selection here in the state is so slim, but I get to Colorado and North Carolina regularly so can re-stock there. It'd be a bit of a drive for you, but we have an awesome Gem and Mineral club here in town - Canaveral Mineral and Gem Society (https://www.canaveral-mgs.com/). We offer lots of lapidary related classes and also have a fantastic shop open a couple days a week for a small fee. Greg
